passthrough-aa-auth-a
Purpose
Authoritative answers carry the AA (authoritative answer) flag. When Conduit forwards a successful A from an auth peer, clients should still see AA set — Conduit does not clear that bit on the default forward path.
How it works
- The peer serves fixture zone
example.testand answerswww.example.testA. - A client queries that name through Conduit.
- The reply must be successful with AA set, matching a direct query to the peer.
Outcomes
| Outcome | Meaning for operators |
|---|---|
| pass | Through Conduit, the A answer is authoritative (AA) and matches querying the peer directly. |
| fail | AA was cleared or altered via Conduit, or the answer otherwise disagreed with the peer. |
| skip | Peer is not authoritative for this matrix (or profile out of scope). |
| characterized | Not used for this case today. If it appeared, it would mean a documented peer-specific quirk rather than a Conduit regression. |
